The world and Europe have been facing unprecedented challenges for sport organisations since March 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with two strong earthquakes in Croatia, has significantly impacted sports clubs, leading to closures or reduced capacities. The cancellation of sports competitions at all levels further exacerbated the situation. Local sport clubs have been struggling to adapt to the “new normal” and reintroduce sports to people, especially children, who are spending more time online and in sedentary lifestyles.

In response to the ongoing crisis, the EU adopted the Next Generation EU recovery plan, focusing on equipping European citizens with knowledge, skills, and competencies for a dynamically changing, mobile, multicultural, and digital society. Erasmus+ programme plays a vital role in supporting European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, European Union Youth Strategy, and European Union Work Plan for Sport (2021-24).

Project Objectives:

The primary objectives of the NextGen – Digitalisation in Sport Organisations project are:

  1. To improve the digitalisation of sports organisations through international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
  2. To create a network of sports and IT organisations for cross-sector cooperation and knowledge sharing.
  3. To promote digital readiness, resilience, and capacity in sports organisations.
  4. To empower sports organisations to better adapt and respond to crises and changing
